Project Introduction

The client provided set of Dicom images (CBCT) of the patient along with a detailed description of the medical problem. The description covers every detail of the patient, like whether the patient has had an implant, impaction, suffers from sinus, etc. Our team was asked to create a pan curve and carry out nerve tracing. We were also supposed to bring out the teeth from cusp to root and the complete maxilla with ptreygoids plates as well as the mandible with condyles.

Project Assignment Highlights

  • Segment only those teeth in which the patient is in pain and wants implants or extraction
  • Case Type: Lower Arch, Upper Arch, full mouth (maxilla and mandible), TMJ, Sinus, Zygomatic
  • Maxillary and Mandibular pan curve
  • Nerve tracing
  • Add dentures to the patient
  • Match the stone model with 3D Anatomy

Challenge

  • The CT scan images were full of scatters and flecks and sometimes we couldn’t even differentiate between the bone and the tooth
  • We were to present a 3D Anatomy without any holes and scattering in bone and teeth
  • Full mouth (maxilla and mandible) conversion is very time-consuming

Solutions

The client had provided us with his own specialized software. The best 3D output is based on good CT scan images. From single to full teeth segmentation or a complicated fully edentulous case helps doctors in effective treatment planning and create a surgical guide. All this may result in a less painful procedure for the patient. Conversion also allows doctors to read data coming from any CT scanner and generate a 3D representation of the patient’s anatomy.

Results

  • Beautiful segmentation after conversion
  • Long oblique placed anterior and posterior where the doctor wants to place the implant after creating the pan curve

Here is how a CT scan looks after we generated its 3D image.
